NFG Bay for Windows — 1.0.0 preview

1. Extract NFG-Bay-Windows.zip to a folder on your Windows PC/tablet.
2. Open NFG-Bay.exe for the complete workspace or NFG-Bay-POS.exe for checkout.
3. Sign in with your own existing NFG Bay account.
4. For a Start menu installation, open https://nfgbay.com/workspace/ in Microsoft Edge and choose its Install app option. The workspace also has an Install button under Windows app & tablets.

Requires Microsoft Edge, .NET Framework 4.8, and internet access. Windows 11 is the target. These small native launchers open the live NFG Bay app in an Edge app window; they are not an offline copy of the business system. Every existing website module remains in that live workspace, subject to the user's company modules and role permissions. Website changes do not require rebuilding these launchers. Registers refresh every 20 seconds and idle lists every 30 seconds. Forms are not replaced while editing. Saved records use the same live database; offline checkout is unavailable.

POS: the website owner must enable the Point of sale module for the company. A company owner/admin/finance role with billing permission can create sales. Existing permission checks still apply. Open a shift, select a customer, scan/add products, review tax/discount and take cash or create an online payment invoice. Cash sales deduct stock; online invoices reserve stock until confirmed payment. Manager-only full cash returns restore stock. Close the shift to reconcile counted cash. Invoice drafts do not charge cards. Card/PayPal checkout requires that company's payment account. No direct card-reader, cash-drawer, or silent receipt-printer integration is included.

The executables are unsigned preview builds. Code signing and execution on physical Windows hardware have not been verified. Do not disable Windows security to run them; use the Edge install option if blocked. Test a sale and receipt on your hardware before production use.

Sign out between operators. The existing inactivity timeout still applies. No admin credentials, customer databases, or payment credentials are bundled. Uninstall a portable launcher by deleting its extracted folder; uninstall the Edge-installed app through Windows Settings.

Company setup includes a checklist, signed-in devices and daily 30-day business-record snapshots with export and additive customer/product recovery. Snapshots share the production database and exclude uploaded files; they are not full off-site disaster recovery.

Retail update: walk-in sales; server-held carts; cash deposits with provider checkout for the remaining card balance; partial item returns and store-credit exchanges; gift-card balances; optional loyalty points; location stock transfers; manager cash movements and unpaid-sale voids; owner sales/stock report; email receipt drafts; customer display window. Named customers are required for store credit. Gift cards are issued against cash collected and are tracked as liabilities. Location names must match shift locations. Products start in Main until transferred. Mixed/online sales support store-credit returns; provider cash/card refunds remain in the provider workflow.

Operations update (26 October 2026): purchase orders against POS products with partial receiving and weighted average costs; stock counts with manager review and stale-count protection; retail/dealer/wholesale quantity pricing; receipt search by customer, phone, invoice, date and product; CODE128 product and shelf labels; daily closing reports; contribution reports after discounted returns, original costs and recorded fees; local printer/scanner setup and test screen. Open Checkout > Purchasing, inventory & register setup. Record provider fees from Recent receipts. Missing costs show unknown margin. Receipt paper preferences support 58 mm, 80 mm and A4/Letter using the browser print dialog. Physical peripherals still require testing.
